Tui Na, meaning “push/pull,” is an ancient Chinese method of treating many ailments using the kneading, plucking, pinching, pushing and pulling of the skin at specific acupuncture points along the body´s energetic pathways. It is a rejuvenating type of bodywork that balances the five elements and works on reconnecting the energy between the points being treated, thereby opening up areas of stagnation and blockage. These “bottle necks” of energy are the probable cause of many physical ailments. Tui Na is very widely used in Chinese hospitals and is the preferred course of treatment in many cases. Tui Na is commonly used in the treatment of problems such as stiff necks, sciatic pain, insomnia, premenstrual difficulties, asthma, and allergies to name just a few.
